SMITH, John P. “Jack” - of Flint, formerly Clio, age 76, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Monday, June 30, 2014 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor David Burkett officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 3-8 PM, Sunday from 12-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM.
John was born March 6, 1938 in Flint to the late John and Evelyn (Murray) Smith. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1956. He married Frances Thompson on March 4, 1961. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2010. Mr. Smith retired from E. I. DuPont with 28 years of service. Jack was a member of Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio where he served as a cantor and sang in the choir and also attended the Mt. Morris United Brethren in Christ Church. He was a member of the Eagles #629, Moose Lodge, KOC, Norton Male Chorus and Brothers in Song. He enjoyed singing karaoke, fishing and singing to his grandchildren.
Surviving are: 4 children: JoAnn (Richard) Schatz, Fawn (Philip) Butcher, John (Kera) Smith and Jim (Melissa) Smith; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine (Tim) Maier, Jim (Sherry) Smith, David (Barb) Smith; nieces and nephews; special friend Cindy.
