Wilson, Deacon Jessie age-91 passed away Saturday March 31,2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday April 7,2018 from the New Beginnings Ministries 5227 Beecher Rd. Rev. Jessie Wilson officiating, Apostle Clarence Lewis, Host Sr. Pastor. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Rd. Holly, Mi. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11am for visitation. Deacon Wilson will repose in the Chapel of the Martin J. Banks Funeral Home Friday from 10am until 8pm Friday.
Deacon Jessie “Grasshopper” Wilson , Sr. was born May 27, 1926 in Clarksdale Mississippi to Mr. Jessie Wilson and MS. Annie Wright. He accepted Christ at a young age and remained active in the church throughout his entire life.
Jessie enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and proudly served for 2 years. He moved to Flint Michigan in the 1950’s and started working at Fisher Body where he worked in Skill Trades as a Millwright till his retirement, He was a member of UAW Local 659 in Flint Michigan. He was also the proud owner and operator of Grandpas Candy Store on the south side of Flint for 8 years.
Jessie remained faithful in church after his move to flint and after being a member of several churches in the area he made his church home at Father, Son and holy Spirit Ministries where he served in various duties including Elder Deacon of the church until his illness forced him to remain at home.
He leaves to cherish his memory 8 sons: Ulysses (Cindy) Wilson and Calvin (Yvonne) Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK. Melvin (Jeanette) Owens of Chicago IL, David (Joni) Wilson of Grand Rapids MI, Jesse (Cheryl)Wilson, Granville Ray, Earnest (Willie Mae) Owens, Claude (Charlene) Jones all of Flint MI. 8 Daughters: Christana (Michael) Wilson -Caine of Long Island NY, Cherise Timmons of Queens NY, Betty Jean Sharpe of Reno NV, Rosie Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK. Joyce (Ishmail) Bah, Terrell (James) Crayton, Tammy Jones, Jean Bell all of Flint MI. Daughter in Law Pearl Howell of Flint MI. Sister in Laws Ruthie Menifee. Vernice Williams of Flint MI, Erma (Bennie) Jordan of Memphis TN, Brother in laws: Ken Wright, Elston Wright, L Purdis White all of Flint MI. 58 Grandchildren and a host of Great Grand Children, Great, Great, Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Special Friends Mildred Grigsby and Mary Matthews. Special mention: Nieces and Nephews in Memphis TN and Chicago IL
He was Preceded in death by: Parents Jessie and Annie Wilson. Wives: Lena Wilson, Oni Lee Wilson, Christine Wilson and Ethel Ree Wilson, Sons: James Howell, Douglas Wilson, Danny Wilson, Samuel Owens and Tom Owens. Sisters Betty Mae Jackson, Annie Mae Brown, Amanda Robinson, Elenore Johnson ad Bertha Harvey,
