Ruddy, Bernard C. – of Montrose, age 72, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Medilodge of East Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Bernie at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. Burial will follow at Montrose Township Cemetery with military honors under the direction of the Birch Run VFW Post # 7542. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Monday from 1-8 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of mass. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
Bernie was born September 13, 1947, in Flint, Michigan to the late Francis and Julia (Rousseau) Ruddy. He graduated from Our Lady High School in Chesaning. Bernie was a U.S. Army, Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of the Birch Run VFW Post #7542 and the former American Legion Post #99 of Burt. He married Sue Ann Glann on September 13, 1969. He retired from AC Spark Plug with 32 years of service. Bernie was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Chesaning. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Bernie was very creative and talented in many areas. He was also a hard core survivalist and was adamant about disaster preparedness.
Surviving are: Wife, Sue Ann; Children: Angela (Jim) Bonter of Montrose, Corey Ruddy of Chesaning, and Ashley Ruddy of Birch Run. Grandchildren: James (Amy) Bonter, Cody Bonter, and Tyler (Brittnie) Bonter; Great- grandchildren: Landyn, Hayden, Nova, and Kinsie; Siblings: Rena, Francis, Leo, Michael, Faith, and Mary Ellen; Bernie was also preceded in death by his brother, Patrick and sisters: Ruth, Lois, Dorothy, and Jean.
