CADIEUX, Howard J. – of Davison, age 98, passed away September 9, 2015 at Genesee Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, September 14, 2015 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Flint; Pastor Gary L. Beck officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Richfield Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Howard was born in Cheboygan County, MI on December 26, 1916, son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Forrest) Cadieux. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946, he was in the 655th Engineers in the European Theater during WWII. On his return from the war, he started on his lifelong trade of brick laying and masonry. Howard excelled at this trade and an example of his stonework is Goodrich Hospital. In 1947, he married Esther Zimmerman-Ex and she preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage in 2007. Howard was a member of Davison VFW Post # 4087, was chairman of the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Local for ten years. He served as a Trustee for the Bricklayers local pension fund for 25 years, Officer and President of Bricklayers Union for several years. Howard was the President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Building Trade Credit Union. He was a member and Treasurer of the Richfield Township Lions Club and Richfield Township Supervisor from 1976-1980. Howard was a board member and supervised Richfield Union Cemetery until 2013. He was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and prior to that Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison.
Howard is survived by sisters, Lorraine Hamilton, Faye (Jim) Johnston, Phyllis (Tom) LaRocque; sister-in-law, Pat Cadieux; best friend, Buddy Ex; special caregivers, Bonnie and Les Mathews.
