BENNETT, Catherine Ann – of Clio, age 86, died Friday, March 15, 2025 at Gross Assisted Living. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at West Vienna United Methodist Church. Rev. Carol J. Freeland officiating. Burial in West Vienna Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 4-8 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions can be made to the West Vienna United Methodist Church or Carriage Town Ministries.
Catherine was born November 17, 1938 in Clio, Michigan to the late Alton and Genevieve (Batterbee) Irish. She grew up in Clio, Michigan and graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1956. She married James Bennett on January 28, 1956 in Clio, Michigan and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2021. Catherine worked as a Luncheon Aide at Clio Area Schools for many years and as a Teller at Citizens Bank. Jim and Catherine also took in many foster children over the years. She was a member of the West Vienna United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked with the youth programs. Catherine enjoyed reading, being active in her church, canning/baking, and attending her children and grandchildren’s events. The family is grateful for the many years of care provided by Gross Assisted Living and to McLaren Hospice.
Surviving are: Children, Jamie (Darlene) Bennett, Mark “Jeff” Bennett, Joe Bennett, Ben “Jorge” Bennett, Jennifer (Scott) Wilbanks; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; Siblings, Bill Irish, Patricia (Ray) George, Jack Irish; many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, James Bennett; Brother, Robert Irish; Grandchildren, Joshua Bennett, Candace Bennett; dear sisters in law, Geri Jackson, Pat Irish, and Peggy Irish.
