GARRETSON, Dorothy Joan Shaker - Age 86, of Davison, died Thursday, September 12, 2019. Services will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc Township. Pastor Mark Cox officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 PM until the time of the service.
Dorothy was born July 23, 1933 in Kalkaska, Michigan, the daughter of William and Eunice (Soper) Mecum. She was a 1951 graduate of Flint Central High School. She resided in Davison for the past 12 years, previously residing in St. Clair Shores and Flint. Dorothy was an insurance agent and commodities broker for many years and then later worked at Bon Secours Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and interior design. She was also a member of the Lost Fugawee Tribe.
Surviving are: sons Thomas Shaker of Montrose, Joseph (Lynelle) Shaker of Grand Blanc, David (Amy) Shaker of Pinconning, and Scott (Holly) Shaker of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Privett, David Shaker, Matthew Shaker, Shannon (Matt) Shaker, Chelsea (J.R.) Johnson, Sarah (Mark) Hogan, Samantha Shaker, Steven (Bryannan) Shaker, Robert Shaker, and Sophia Shaker; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousin Marvel Twigg and best friend Cindy Piekarski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert and George Shaker; daughter-in-law Rhonda; brothers, Bill, Lee, and Jim; and sisters, Neva and Joyce.
