TRAVIS, Monte Sr. – of Oscoda, age 68, passed away November 6, 2014 at his daughter’s residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service, followed by Military Honors will be held 6 PM Monday, November 10, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Visitation will be 4 pm until time of service. The family requests casual attire please. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Monte was born in Bluffton, Indiana on October 27, 1946, son of the late Vaughn and Ruby (Arnold) Travis. He graduated from Oscoda High School. Monte proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He married Mary Ann McRobbie on June 13, 1970. Monte enjoyed golfing, playing with his grandchildren and watching western reruns (over and over). He retired from Buick after 42 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and UAW Local #599. Monte may be gone, but not forgotten.
Monte is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Michele (Greg) Shay; son, Monte Jr. (Melissa) Travis; daughter, Lindsay Travis (Cym); grandsons, CJ Cooper, Monte III and Sawyer “Soybean” Travis; sister, Cheryl (Marv) Smith. He was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Young.
