JANUARY, Deacon Fred Jr., age 79, of Burton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center, Flint. Funeral Services will be 12 noon Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at The Holy Ghost Church Ministries, 801 Addison St., Flint. Pastor Robert Burrell and Elder Robert Allen officiating. The family hour will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Deacon January will lie in state at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m.
Deacon January was born July 5, 1935 in Vicksburg, Mississippi the son of Fred and Geneva January. He enjoyed spending time with family most of all. Deacon January retired from General Motors after 55 years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local 598. He was also a member of the Flint Eagles motorcycle club and enjoyed working on cars.
Deacon January leaves in God's Care his Sons, Fred (Michelle) January III of Columbus, OH, Guy Anthony January of Flint, MI; Daughters, Meredith (Napoleon) Ford of Flint, MI, Crystal (Terence) Craft of Caledonia, MI, Cassie (Tyrone) Lee of Kentwood, MI, and Ebony January of Grand Blanc, MI; 14 Grandchildren, Dion Mitchell, Jalan January, Bryce January, Guy Anthony January Jr., Janiro Ford, Martwaz Ford, Napoleon Ford II, Christian Guy Craft, Justice January Craft, Faith Destiny Lee, Joy Serenity Lee, Coraya January Jones, Ryan Scott Sanders Jr., Summer Rose Sanders; 6 Great-Grandchildren, Kameron Ford, Janay Ford, Janiro Ford II, Maya Ford, and Martwaz Ford II, Ava Christine Craft; sisters, Genevieve Simpson and Del Marie Cabine.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dr. Dorothy J. January on October 12, 2012, his parents, Fred and Geneva January, sister, Alma Haralson and brother James January Sr. Share your condolences with the family at www.brownfh.com.
