JONES, Sgt. Major Charles E. – Of Flint, age 66, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2051 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Reverend Paul M. Boerger officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lamb of God Lutheran Church Building Fund or the U.S. Marine Corps League.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Memorial service will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps League at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
Charles was born in Flint, Michigan on January 11, 1947 and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life.
He married Rita N. Martines on April 16, 1971.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969.
He was chairman of the Lamb of God Congregation. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW Chevrolet Post #3087 and represented Toys for Tots in the Southeastern Michigan area.
Mr. Jones was employed by Truck & Bus.
Surviving are wife, Rita;
two children, Danah M.(Garret S.) Orr and
Danelle L. (Mark R.K.) Bradley;
five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Naomi, Ryleigh, Norah and Nolan;
mother, Naomi C. Jones;
sisters-in-law, Martha Jones and Sharon Jones;
several nieces and nephews;
many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by father, Boyd; two brothers, Frederick and Robert Jones.
