BALLARD, Jackie C. – Of Flint, age 64, left his earthly home to join his true Father in his Heavenly Home on Friday, July 15, 2011 at his residence. Per Jack's wishes cremation has taken place and interment will take place 11a.m. Wednesday. July 27, 2011 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Reverend Butch Martin of Deliverance Tabernacle officiating, with a military graveside service. Contributions may be made to 10th Life Cat Rescue, 3415 Hull, Flint, MI 48507. Jack was born in Flint, Michigan on June 5, 1947. While serving in the United States Army from 1967-1973, he was stationed in Viet Nam from 1967-1969. He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. Jack loved fishing with his friends. He loved riding his Harley, but he also took time to smell a rose. He enjoyed playing in the fund-raiser golf tournaments sponsored by General Motors. He was always a winner. He spent time hunting with his wife and father-in-law. It wasn't the kill, but the sounds, the sights and the smells of the woods that brought him peace. Once he found the love of Jesus and the Peace of God, his world was complete. Jack turned out to be quite the singer. When that "old time” rock and roll started playing, he could sing with the best of them. He loved appreciating his present life, but remembering the great times and friends of "back in the day", it brought a smile to his face. Surviving are the love of his life, wife, Judy; son, Jacob of Flint; brother, Douglas (Betty) of Mio; sisters, Nancy Topolinski of Davison and Connie Ballard of Burton; half-sisters, Joanne Scott (Jerry) of Burton and Lynda Busher (Robert) of Flint. Preceding him in death were his mother, father and brother, Donald. Special thanks to all Jack's caregivers and support professionals, and the whole body of persons engaged in the calling to serve. These are the people who uphold the quality of our lives. Special appreciation to Jennifer, for her care and thoughtfulness.
