RICHARD R. HARWICK, 76, passed away April 24, 2020 surrounded by his family, after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Richard was born in Ballinger, TX on May 19, 1943. His family moved to Queens, NY when he was a small child. He graduated from Aviation High School located in Queens and then joined the Air Force. He was stationed at Selfridge ANGB, and made Michigan his home.
Richard became a tool and die maker and worked at Chrysler (Sterling Heights, MI), Volkswagon (Charleston, WV) and General Motors (Flint, MI). Davison, Michigan became his home in 1985. He retired from General Motors in 2008.
Richard was an avid race car fan, driver and builder. Over the years, he owned many classic cars, hot rods and motorcycles. He appreciated horticulture, and high-grade gardening in his later years. He was a member of the Davison Eagles Club for 25+ years where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends and his “girls”.
Richard donated blood to American Red Cross often, and encouraged others to do so. In his lifetime he donated over 13 gallons of blood.
Richard is survived by the mother of his children, Dorothy Harwick and their children; Robert (Kristina), Kenneth (Tena), Michelle Casey (Matt), Scott (Carol), and Rebecca Falleti. He was a proud Grumpa of 13 “heathens”; Madeline, Conor, Sydney, Ian, Jacob, Aaron, Jackson, Ted, Justin, Dylan, Kaylee, Devin, and A.J. He was predeceased by his parents, Einar and Frances Harwick, and his brother, John L. Harwick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to “Logan’s Heros”, c/o Davison Eagles Club, 3270 N. State Road, Davison, MI 48423, or to the American Red Cross.
There will be a celebration of Richard's life on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Davison Eagles Club, 3270 N. State Road, Davison, MI 48423 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm.
