APPEL, Eleanor Anna – Of Flint, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at her residence.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Eleanor was born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania on March 11, 1923, the daughter of Anna (Demko) and Peter Mello.
She was a graduate of Central High School.
On May 15, 1943 she married Robert Appel at St. Michael’s Church in Flint, a union that lasted 68 years, until he preceded her in death on April 3, 2012.
Eleanor and Bob enjoyed square dancing for many years.
Eleanor was a life master in Bridge.
She also liked her trips to the casino and playing cards with her children.
Eleanor was mother of Barbara of Flint;
Dennis and wife Darla of Cape Coral, FL,
Joseph and wife Cheryl of Flint;
10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathleen Burden, on February 3, 2008 and her brother, George Mello, on March 11, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Burton Senior Center or Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
