TRUESDELL, James Ephriam III "Jamie" - age 56, of Grand Blanc, died peacefully in his residence on December 23, 2016 after battling colon cancer for nearly seven years. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29 at 12:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Family will also receive visitors from 3:00-6:00 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Miami University Red & White Club.
Jamie was born March 19, 1960 in Flint. He attended Grand Blanc Schools K-12 and graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1978. Jamie then attended Miami University in Oxford, OH where he proudly played football for the Redskins and graduated with a business degree in 1982. Upon graduation, Jamie joined the third generation business, J. Austin Oil Co. of Flint, Inc., joining his father James Jr., and grandfather, James Sr. Jamie served as the president until they ultimately sold the business in 1991. Jamie then acquired TPS Co. LLC in 1994, a business that he sold ten years later. Over the past ten years, Jamie sold real estate at Bruce Pollock & Associates.
A man for others, Jamie was most proud of his service and governance to a wide variety of organizations. For 17 years he served on the Board of MESCO in Flint, MI, ultimately serving as Chairman of the Board for dear friends, the Timyan family. He also served multiple roles for the Flint Township Central Business Development Authority, the Grand Blanc Township Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Genesee County Building Authority. Jamie proudly served on the Whaley Children’s Center Board for ten years, including a term as the Chairman. Most recently, Jamie served the Foundation for Mott Community College and Goodwill Industries of Mid-Michigan, where he was Chairman.
Jamie was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. Jamie and his family have been long standing members of the Flint Golf Club, where they have countless memories with friends and family. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a kind, thoughtful, respectful, and selfless man.
Jamie is survived by his parents, James Jr. and Marilyn. He has been blessed with a beautiful, caring, and loving wife of 25 years, Stephanie (Richmond). The pride of his life has always been his sons, Bailey of Charlotte, NC, and Carson at Boston College. He is also survived by sister, Gwen and her husband Steve Antenen, and niece, Alexandra all of Sonoma, CA.
