SCHLIS, Irene Marie - Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Swartz Funeral Home 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor John Bienlein. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lighthouse Chapel of the Deaf.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schlis was born on November 29, 1925 and was one of eleven children of the late Grant and Mae McCready. She married James H. Schlis on September 24, 1949 in Flint. She attended Michigan School for the Deaf. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and was a charter member of the Lighthouse Chapel of the Deaf. Mrs. Schlis enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her
5 sons, Ron (Debbie), Simeon (Nancy), Tim (Pegi), J. Tony (Tracy) and Matt (Carrie);
12 grandchildren;
7 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her 10 brothers and sisters; husband, James; daughter, Alma and 1 grandson.
