BRIGGS, Leonard Orville - age 77, of Flint, passed away January 3, 2016. He battled hard to enjoy life now he can rest in peace. Leonard was born in Flint, Michigan on November 14, 1938 as the son of Carl and Doris (Lawson) Briggs. He graduated from Flint Central in 1957. In 1960, he married his wife Carol (Culver). He attended GMI and was a journeyman Tool and Die Maker. He was a proud UAW member of Local 598 working at the General Motors Flint Engine Plant for 38 years. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 114 in Rankin. He was Past Master for the Masonic Lodge’s in Grand Blanc and Lincoln and a member of the Linden Lodge. He enjoyed many years with his daughter supporting the Jobs Daughters of Grand Blanc. He was the Captain of the Grand Poo Bah and sailed the Great Lakes with special friends. In his later years, he enjoyed the winters with friends and family in Texas and on the beaches in Gulf Shores. Leonard taught his family to work hard and to enjoy life. He leaves his wife Carol, son and wife Rodney and Janel (Garrett) Briggs, daughter and son in law Robbin and Jeff Burrow, grandson, Justin Briggs and Sister Susan Maehre. He was preceded in death by his parents, in laws James and Jane Culver and brothers Dennis and Kenny Briggs. The family wants to thank the DaVita Dialysis Centers in Fenton and Grand Blanc for their excellent care. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St. Linden with Rev. Seth A. Normington officiating. A Masonic memorial will follow the service under the auspices of Linden Lodge #132 F. & A.M. The family will receive friends from 2 PM - 3 PM Friday at the funeral home.
