BERRY, Homer C. – Of Burton, age 91, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Dave Hintz officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Homer was born in Flint, Michigan on February 13, 1925, the son of the late Omar and Bernice Berry.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacific.
On November 30,1943 he married Virginia Keene.
He was a past member and was very active in the Trinity Missionary Church and attended Central Church of the Nazarene.
He served on the Burton City Council for over 40 years and the Burton Police Department in the 1950’s.
Mr. Berry was employed as a fireman at General Motors.
Surviving are wife, Virginia;
One daughter, Sandra (John) Allen;
9 grandchildren;
8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Hendrickson; four brothers and three sisters.
