FORNESI, (Gleason) Theresa Margaret -- Age 90, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016. A resident of Grand Blanc and a summer time Cayuga Lake/Canoga, New York resident, passed away after a short battle with liver cancer. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1PM Friday, April 15, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of mass Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Theresa was born on July 30, 1925, in Seneca Falls, New York, to Josephine Bachta Gleason and Joseph
Gleason. She attended Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, New York, and graduating 6th in her class,
went on to attend college at Albany State Teacher’s College in Albany, New York on a scholarship. She
graduated with a Master’s degree in English with a minor in Spanish. Theresa taught English in Genoa,
Canandaigua, and Seneca Falls, New York and Spanish in North Olmstead, Ohio. Theresa married
Thomas Lawrence Fornesi on August 25, 1952. Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas
Fornesi, daughter, Amy and husband Ken King, grandchildren, Charles Jack King and Andrea Ellen King
and her brother, Harry Gleason of Romulus, New York, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and
godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Gleason and two
brothers, Joseph Gleason of Seneca Falls, New York and George Gleason of Santa Maria, California.
Moving to Grand Blanc in 1980, Theresa was very active with Holy Family Church and Bay Valley Hospice
where she volunteered taking care of cancer patients. She valued education throughout her life and also
took classes at Syracuse University, Hobart College and Cornell University. A constant reader, she
enjoyed reading, sewing/crafting, and spending her summers at Cayuga Lake with her family. She was
