Summers, Gordon Dale of Flushing, age 83, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the LaVigne Home for Compassionate Care. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at United in Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Steven Stahlhut will officiate. A graveside committal service will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to United in Christ Lutheran Church or the LaVigne Home for Compassionate Care.
Gordon was born in Flint, Michigan on October 13, 1941, the son of Dale and Chloris (Turner) Summers. He married Onalee Adkins on July 12, 1974, in Flint. Gordon was a graduate of Michigan State University and was an avid MSU fan, attending every home football game for over 20 years. Gordon proudly served in the United States Army Guard, achieving the rank of Sergenat. He was active in the Franklin Avenue Mission in Flint and a member of the Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse Society. As a faithful member of United in Christ, he served as an Elder and Vice President. Gordon enjoyed riding his bike and being active at the Flushing Senior Center. His greatest claim to fame, was being the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Onalee; sons, Scott Barcey, Brian Barcey, Todd (Tracy) Barcey, Lucas (Serenity) Summers; grandchildren, Tess (Garrett) Jones, Charles Barcey, Dawson Barcey, Myranda Barcey, Ivan Barcey, Morgan Wolf, Teagan (Ricky) Leppien, Tristin Wolf, Duane (Mandy) Switzer, Jason (Ashley) Barcey, Emily (Adin) Menkin, Sydney (Andrew) Burla, Matthew (Rebekah) Summers, Hannah Summers, Emily (Tony) Stahl, Sarah Summers, Noah Summers, Lilly Summers; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Hebert, David (Sue) Summers, Charles (Donna) Summers, and John Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
