ST. PIERRE, Ruthann – Age 74, of Columbiaville, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at McLaren-Flint. Mrs. St. Pierre was born April 21, 1939 in Flint the daughter of Willard and Marjorie Beagle. Ruthann was very active with U.A.W. including Region 1C and Local 1292 committees including working on elections, education, civil rights, union label, community action program and by-laws. She was also editor of Retiree Region 1-C newspaper, The View, which is published quarterly and worked on the Legislative Committee. Ruthann received the Walter Reuther Award and was on the Board of Directors of the Sam Duncan Scholarship Fund. She volunteered her time with churches, food banks and soup kitchens. Ruthann was very politically active with elections at voting polls, working phone banks for candidates and volunteering at fund raisers. From Tahiti to Texas Ruthann has been there! She loved cruises, from the Caribbean to Alaska to watching whales in the St. Lawrence Seaway. Ruthann traveled all over Europe, Russia, China, South America. She and her husband Edwin loved to go fishing. Surviving are her husband Edwin; children, Machell Cunningham, David Thibert, Yvonne Robinson and Janet Thibert; step-sons, Joseph and Michael St. Pierre; sister, Linda Nordquist. Ruthann leaves behind many many friends from the U.A.W.. Mrs. St. Pierre was preceded in death by her son, Philip Thibert. Friends may visit the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 11 to 2 p.m. Friday at Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
