SHOMSKY, Beverly J. - Of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at McLaren-Flint.
A tribute and celebration of her life will take place 3pm Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 12-6pm Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Flint Institute of Music, Ele’s Place-Children’s Grieving Center, or Foundation for Mott Community College.
Beverly was born in Flint, Michigan on April 18, 1935, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Romancky) Mason and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life. She graduated from Northern High School, where she met Joseph Shomsky. They were married on June 25, 1955 and enjoyed a wonderful life together until his passing. She was fortunate enough to later meet her beloved partner Sixto Olivo and they enjoyed 15 happy years together. Beverly was a member of the Flint Institute of Art, Allegra Group at Flint Institute of Music and the Art Class and Book Club and was a sustaining member of Flint Junior League. She loved the arts, gardening and music. She was very giving to others and enjoyed spending time with friends. Above all else, she loved being with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and sharing their lives.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Pam (Jeff) Feurt of Flint, Maribeth (Stephen) Shaheen of Flint,
Jill (Scott) Goss of Clarkston;
6 grandchildren, Jenny and Jackie Feurt, Stephen Shaheen, Sarah (Kala) Cohen, Molly and Joey Goss;
great-grandchildren, Sam and Maya Cohen;
beloved companion of the last 15 years, Sixto Olivo;
special sister-in-law, Bobbie Mitchell;
many nieces, nephews and other loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2000; parents; sister, Dorothy (Schmidt) Lincoln.
