PETERSON, Charles Elsworth "John" – of Birch Run, age 80, died Saturday, August 27, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Ted Doolittle officiating. Cremation to follow. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8PM and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
Charles was born January 28, 1936 in Clio, Michigan to the late Elsworth I. and Jessie L. (Harger) Peterson. He married Evelyn M. Gavulic June 15, 1957 in Flint. Charles served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Mr. Peterson retired from Buick with 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #599. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charles was a family man and very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are: Wife, Evelyn Peterson; Children John (Deb) Peterson, Sue (Rodger) Jory, Mary Lu Sommerfeldt, Pete Peterson and Pat (Debbie) Peterson; 10 grandchildren: Danielle and Melissa Peterson, Heather Bryant, Rachel Gossett, Allison and Bryn Sommerfeldt, Bethany (Caleb) Sparks, Bree (Ernie) Stinnett, Jessica (Ben) Belill and Sarah Peterson; 4 great grandchildren: Hunter Bryant, Carter and Scarlett Belill and Kamryn Sparks; Sister, Judy (Elvin) Ross; Brother, James Peterson.
