Dorothea "Bunny" E. Newman
Age 88 of St. Charles passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Covenant Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Albee. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel on Tuesday, December 29, from 2:00 to 8:00pm, with a Prayer Service at 8:00pm.
Dorothea was born on December 22, 1927 to Bernard and Bertha (Willie) Hemker in Albee Township. She married the love of her life, Frederick Newman on April 19, 1952. They were married 43 years before he predeceased her in 1995.
Dorothea worked as a hairdresser for most of her life. Throughout her life, she loved line dancing and square dancing, a hobby she shared with her late husband. She also enjoyed baking and frequented the casino. Dorothea was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Albee for many years.
Dorothea is survived by her children, Deborah (Robert) Jones, Dan (Cindy) Newman, Duane (Kim) Newman, Dean (Margie) Newman, and Darrin (Tracy) Newman; her 13 grandchildren, her 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 more on the way.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frederick, her grandson, Adam, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
