RICHMOND, Donald “Don” – of Burton, age 76, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2014 surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Dan Louman officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 5-8 PM Tuesday and 10-11 AM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church – Building Fund.
Don was born in Flint, MI, in the family home on May 1, 1937, son of the late Carlton C. and Vera (Silvernail) Richmond. He married Barbara J. DeGeer on September 22, 1956 in St. John, MI. Don worked for GM Metal Fab for over 31 years, retiring in 1986 as an overhead Crane Operator. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #659, Heritage Baptist Church, past member of Eastgate Baptist Church, Campers on Mission and Michigan Disaster Relief, serving in New Orleans, LA and Mississippi, after Katrina. Don was also a member of Christian Service Corp. Volunteers. After his retirement Barb and Don enjoyed doing mission trips within the U.S. Don loved camping, deer hunting and especially loved being with his family.
Don is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Steve Richmond, Rick Richmond, Michele (Paul) Jones; grandchildren, Angelia Richmond, Nick (Joyce) Rundlett, Dan Rundlett, Caleb Rundlett, Curt (Aranda) Jones, Ryan Jones, Stephanie (Erick) Sharp; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Townsend, Dorothy Collins, Norma (Bob) Tolbert, Janice (Richard) Kodat, Marilyn Dingo, Linda Thick, Betty French, Carol Thick; many special in-laws, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and two sisters. The family would like to say a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care.
