Donald Linton Kelly

Age 72, of Oakley, formerly of Saginaw, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 after a short battle with cancer at his home with family by his side.

Don was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who was known for his quick wit.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor James Bare officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Donald was born April 24, 1947 in Saginaw, the son of Donald and Lillian (Knights) Kelly. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School and later went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Delta College.

Donald was employed as a meat cutter for 50 years; starting as an apprentice at age 16. He had many devoted customers who appreciated his skill and followed him from store to store. He took great pride in his work.

Donald was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Saginaw. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He loved to ride his motorcycle. Like his father before him, he enjoyed the challenge of repurposing items that others deemed useless.

Donald married Katherine Miller at Salem Lutheran Church on September 30, 1978.

Donald is survived by his loving wife Katherine; children Machelle (Brian) Schlorff, Donald Kelly, Stephen Goodrich, Jennifer Kelly (Jeremiah); grandchildren Chad Albaugh, Brianna (Daniel) Albaugh, Hayden Albaugh, Cassie Kelly, Danny Shoffner, Stephen Rose, Austin Rose, Brandon Harris, Amanda Harris, Jillyane Beckman, Amanda (Justin) Spickerman, Amber Schlorff and Alex Schlorff; great-grandchildren Dayven Shoffner, Claire Shoffner, Bentley Albaugh, Kamen Reed, Annabelle Rose and one bun in the oven; sisters Patsy Kelly and Mary DuBuis; brother Frank (Marie) Watts; nephew Christopher DuBuis; special friend Farouk Abbas; other loving family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The Kelly family would like to mention how grateful they are for the wonderful care and support they and Donald received from the physicians and staff at Memorial Healthcare Center and Memorial Hospice as well as the spiritual support provided by Salem Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family, Salem Lutheran Church or Memorial Healthcare Hospice.
