ABBOTT, Arron R. – of Clio, age 67, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his residence. Honoring Arron’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 11AM until 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to www.curepc.org, www.curesma.org or Heartland Hospice in memory of Arron.
Arron was born on November 19, 1947 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Alfred R. and Maxine R. (Minnow) Abbott. He graduated from Clio High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan- Flint and a master’s degree from Marygrove. Arron married Jane Dafoe on August 4, 1973 in Flint. Mr. Abbott was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam era. Arron was a teacher for Clio Area Schools for 34 years before retiring in 2010. He was a longtime wrestling coach for Clio schools and also coached girls’ soccer. Arron was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Above all, Arron loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: loving wife, Jane Abbott of Clio; children, David Abbott (Morgan) of Dearborn, Sarah Abbott (Travus) of Farmington, Teresa (Anthony) Perge of Clio and Bryan Abbott (Sara) of Genesee; 2 grandchildren, Isabella and Hayden Perge; sister, Kathleen Taylor; special aunt, Diana Johnson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other loving family members and friends.
