ORTMAN, Eleanor Jane - age 83, of Gaines, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, August 24, 2012 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek with Fr. Dan Kogut celebrant. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Eleanor was born November 17, 1928 in Durand, Michigan, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Puddu) Guria. She married Carl H. Ortman on February 14, 1953 and was married one month short of 60 years. Eleanor was a proud homemaker and mother. She was "mom" and "grandma" to many. Surviving are: two daughters, Teresa "Terry" Standen (Mike) and Christine Kovalcik, both of Swartz Creek; four grandchildren, Mandy Lintz (Jeremy), Tiffany Mysen (Ryan), Stacey Kovalcik and Benjamin Kovalcik; two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Dylan Lintz; many niece and nephews, special friends, Audrey Cole Elsesser, Joanne and Tom Holmquist, Mickie and Marty Holmquist; and her beloved cat, Ladybug. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her brother, Andy (Irene) Guria, Salvador Guria, and sisters, Mickie (Wayne) Corcoran, Jennie (Paul) Hoisington and Ann Guria.
