Age: 74
Community: North Port, FL

Clifford Charles Wamsley of North Port, Florida and formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and holding his son’s hand on March 14, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on August 22, 1950, in Amarillo, Texas, Cliff lived a life marked by dedication to his family and wife of 53 years, and a passion for the things he loved.

As a young man, Cliff answered the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Vietnam War era with honor and dedication, achieving the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged. His time in the military instilled a deep sense of discipline and commitment that carried through every aspect of his life.

Following his military service, Cliff built a long and successful career at General Motors, retiring as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. For 30 years, he worked at the Flint Truck and Bus location, ensuring excellence in production while also being an active and proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). His work ethic and dedication earned him respect among colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional life, Cliff had many passions that brought him joy. He loved rock and roll and could often be found enjoying his favorite tunes. He also had an enthusiasm for firearms - both shooting guns and making bullets were hobbies he took great pride in. He was a master mechanic and expert handyman, and could fix or build just about anything under the sun. Watching car races and football were favorite pastimes, as was riding motorcycles and embracing the freedom of the open road. Most importantly, Cliff cherished time spent with family and friends.

At age 60, Cliff accepted the Lord into his life and became a devoted member of Dayspring Ministries in Flint, Michigan. His faith provided him with strength and comfort throughout his later years.

Clifford leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his beloved wife Debbie; children Deanna Jones, Jeremy Wamsley, and Tony Wamsley (Steven Byks); grandchildren Jordan (Craig) Wiseman, Jonathon Jones, Skyler Wamsley, Michael Wamsley, and Joseph Wamsley; great-grandchildren Roger Wiseman and Jonathon Wiseman; brothers Ivan (Kay) Wamsley and David (Terri) Wamsley; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Doris Wamsley; brothers Richard, Alvin, and Harold Wamsley; sister Linda Smith; and beloved niece Johanna Wamsley.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitations at Swartz Funeral Home (1225 W Hill Rd., Flint, MI 48507) on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Clifford will be laid to rest with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442) at 1:00 pm.

Cliff was deeply loved, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. Though we will miss him dearly, his kindness, love, and generosity will always be remembered and cherished, living on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
