Helen Mae Wilson (Hoskey), of Flint, age 80, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 East Main St., Flushing. Pastor Larry Rednower officiating. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Flushing Christian Outreach, 201 N. McKinley Rd, Flushing.
Helen was born June 3rd, 1937, to Henry William and Goldie Vera (Harper) Hoskey, the sixth of their eight children, in Flint, MI. Helen married her “Tootie”, James (Jim) Gaylord Wilson, on August 24th, 1964. At the instant Helen married Jim, he became the most incredible, loving, and super dad to their three children, Ted (Jennie) Nelson, Janice Nelson-Fenton, and Daniel Nelson. Helen and Jim have seven grandchildren, Stacey Sisco-Elyea (Travis), Oliva Nelson, Chelsea Rae Nelson, twins Caitlin Nelson-Korchnak (Evan) and Courtney Nelson, Justin Moyer, and Adrianna Nelson. They also have three-great grandchildren, twins, Caden and Logan, and Brynn Elyea.
Helen worked at Hudson’s and Macy’s where she excelled at superior customer service cultivating a large circle of friends, co-workers, and customers. Helen enjoyed raising chickens and ducks and especially enjoyed traveling to Florida and Houston to visit her daughter, a granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.
“Aunt Helen” Had a deep love and affection for her many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and their spouses.
“Ma Wilson” was a second mom to her sons’ many friends collectively known as the River Road Rats.
Helen is survived by her three sisters, Dorothy Mills, Bertha Dungey, and Henrietta Morissette. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Gaylord and Geraldine (Smith) Wilson and her four brothers, George, Alfred, Hubert, and Martin.
Helen and her entire family would especially like to thank the Honorable Judge Jennie Barkey for her kind-hearted visit to the Wilson home performing one extraordinary adoption. Bless you Judge Barkey.
The family would also like to thank Emilie Schuessler and doctors Kocheril and Danish at the Flint Cancer Institute for their kind care and compassion.
