Our Heavenly Father sent his Angels for Barbara June Horton on August 1, 2024. Barbara was born on August 12, 1923, in Goodrich, Michigan to Harry and Thelma Scranton (Pratt). A 1942 Graduate of Goodrich High School. Barb married her forever sweetheart, Dick Horton, on June 19, 1942. Barb was employed by the Goodrich Schools and worked in the Cafeteria until Retirement. She was a volunteer at Genesis Hospital and Hospice for many years. Barbara was a member of the Woman’s Club and served a lifetime of dedication to the United Methodist Church.
Dick and Barb enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Her happiest time was being with Dick while he played the Banjo! In fact, they won a talent contest back in 1940! Dick playing his tenor banjo and Barb tap dancing! This contest was their beginning of 77 years of music, laughter, and love.
Our family always said that mom looked at life through, “Rose Colored Glasses.” Always positive with her thoughts and a beautiful smile. Her dedication to her family was clear with vast amounts of care and love. Our Lord blessed us with an amazing Mother, who will be adored forevermore.
Family was their true passion, having four children. Rick Horton (Elaine), Cheryl Najar (Norm), Suzanne Koon (Stanley), and Babette Frailey (Bob). Grandchildren; Rayne, Rochelle, Brooke, Ryan, Lana, Scott; Stepchildren Bryan and Michael. Great Grandchildren; Bradey, Ava, Whitney, Nadia, Mekaela, Micah, Mitchell, Aiden, Caitlyn, Courtney, Madison, and Tanner. Great-Great Grandma to Monroe and Callan. Barb cherished her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. So many memories of her family and friends who preceded her to Heaven and those still blessed to be here on Earth.
A funeral visitation for Barbara will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S State Rd, Goodrich, Michigan, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
