Joyce Steele of Flint, age 88, died Thursday October 10, 2019 at the Cottage of Davison. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday October 14, 2019 at Hansen Funeral Home, Groves Chapel Downtown Davison. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating, burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 5-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home, with a scripture service at 6:30 pm. Those desiring may make contributions in Joyce’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Carriage Town Ministries.
Joyce was born in Petoskey Michigan on September 15, 1931 the daughter of the late Henry & Julia (Strickler) Daniels and has resided in the Flint area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Melvin Steele on August 2, 1952 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1992. We her family had the privilege of loving and being loved by Joyce. Through the years she shared with us her gifts of creativity, determination, working hard, and she contributed profoundly to who we are today. We couldn’t be more proud of her. In addition to the love and devotion she had for her family, she took much pride in caring for her yard and flower garden. She also enjoyed our many adventurous camping trips together.
This beloved mom, grandma (Gan) will be greatly missed by her son Gary (Colleen) Steele, daughter Lynn (Mark) Gray, granddaughter Lisa (Mick) Kamischke, grandson Sean (Christie) Gray, granddaughter Erin Gray and Fiancé Justin Brown, step-grandchildren; Autumn Spencer, David (Patty) Spencer and special nephew Jeff Sterly. She is preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, and daughter-in-law Mary. Please share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
