HARDEN, James L. – of Flushing, age 76, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at McLaren of Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Jim was born February 20, 1938 in Flint to the late Cecil and Sylvia (Green) Harden. He lived most of his life in Flint moving to Flushing for the past 2 years. He was a proud 1956 graduate of Beecher High School. He married Carolyn “Katie” Bruce on August 18, 1961. Mr. Harden served in the US Army Reserves. He was a tax preparer for over 30 years and was known as Jim “Axe the Tax” Harden. He enjoyed his monthly meetings with his fellow Beecher graduates. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the horse track.
Surviving are: wife, Carolyn “Katie” Harden; children: Shelly (Dane) Yntema of AL, Todd Harden of Flushing, Jamie (David) VanBrocklin of Burt, Stephen (Margie) Harden of Millington; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: David (Deanna) Harden of Holly and Larry (Margaret) Harden of FL; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter in-law, Mary Harden.
