Lucy (Edith) Mars, age 101, of Flushing, MI, passed away on July 9, 2024. Per Lucy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024 at Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N. McKinley Rd., Flushing, MI 48433. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Lucy will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing Presbyterian Church or Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA), in Lucy’s memory.
Lucy was born on November 16, 1922, in Bessemer, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Audle and Anna Elizabeth (Eichenauer) Johnson. She married Robert S. Mars on February 16, 1945, and they spent many loving years together until his passing on November 24, 2007.
Lucy had the honor of being 2023 Centenarian of Genesee County. She was a lifelong member of The Flint Yard and Garden Club, serving as a past president. Lucy also sang in the choir at Community Presbyterian Church in Flint until its closing.
She was a caregiver to many people and touched so many lives. Her family all wanted to be her favorite, but she always said she had no favorite, she loves us all.
Lucy is survived by her children, James Mars, Brenda (Randy) Rezac, John (Mary) Mars, Janice Mars, Robert (Diane) Mars; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Lindstrom, Christine Mars, Carrie (Mike) Bowdish, Sara DellaVolpe, Emily Mars, Maryann (Brandon) Hebda, Matt (Nicolle Keener) Mars, Brent (Katie Luddington) Mars, Ryan (Erica) Mars, and Brandon Mars-Frost; 17 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Bill Martin; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Julie Ann (Mars) Martin. |
