Barbara Rae McCann, 67, of Burton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. Born on February 17, 1957, Barbara lived a life full of love, kindness, and creativity. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met.
Barbara devoted much of her career to St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, later known as Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, where she served as a Pediatric Ward Clerk.
Outside of work, Barbara found her greatest joys in simple pleasures. She spent her summers nurturing her beautiful garden, where her green thumb always brought an abundance of vegetables and vibrant flowers. She loved canning her summer harvest to share with family and friends and took immense pride in decorating her yard for every holiday.
A talented and imaginative soul, Barbara looked forward to crafting, crocheting, and repurposing everyday items into unique treasures. She loved animals, often feeding the squirrels and birds in her yard. Barbara loved her cats, Greta Lin and Ellie Mae, treating them as part of her family. Her kitties were the light of her life, and she doted on them endlessly. She also had a deep and abiding love for God and cherished her faith, finding joy and purpose in her devotion to the church.
Barbara also enjoyed hunting trips “up north,” the thrill of off-roading, big trucks, and custom hot rod cars, but her favorite moments were spent with her family. Whether she was baking her famous cheesecake and desserts or simply sharing stories, she made every gathering special.
Barbara's memory will be cherished by her brother, David (JoAnne) McCann; her nieces, Jennifer (Bruce) Henson and Jenelle McCann (Chad Swantek), great-nephew, Jackson Henson; and her many cousins, friends, and extended family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, as she touched countless lives every day with her kind, caring, and loving spirit.
Barbara is now reunited in Heaven with beloved family members, friends and special loves; but most importantly her parents, Mary and Donald McCann.
The family thanks everyone for their support and asks that Barbara’s memory be honored by spreading kindness, creativity, and love as she did throughout her life.
