Kathryn Cannon, age 75, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born in Saginaw on August 13, 1941 to Herbert and Dorothy Davis. She married Melvin Cannon on June 24, 1961, and they were happily married for 39 years before he preceded her in death on July 23, 2000. Kathryn worked at the Flint City Clerk’s office as a young woman, and later was a teacher’s assistant for the Grand Blanc School District for seven years.

Kathryn loved spending time with family and friends, playing scrabble and euchre, going to the movie theater, and participating in activities at the Oaks at Woodfield where she lived from 2016-2017. She was a faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, and also attended Holy Redeemer Church in Burton, where she graduated from high school. Kathryn met her husband in high school, and they were later married at Holy Redeemer.

Surviving are her two children, Chad and wife Teresa Cannon of Grand Blanc, and Kristen and husband Johnny Mason of Flint; four grandchildren Lynn and husband Michael Goff, Collin Cannon, and Katiana and Jonas Mason; sister Mary Lou and husband Joseph Koski of Saginaw; nieces Connie Koski and Donna Roach; and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19 from 1:30 – 7 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Road, Grand Blanc. A Parastas (Byzantine Wake) Service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, following visitation. An Office of Christian Burial (Funeral) Service will be held Monday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 N. Elms Road, Flushing, with visitation at the church from 9 – 10 a.m. The Very Reverend David A. Hannes, pastor of St. Michael’s will be officiating the service, and Kathryn will be buried with her late husband in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church.
