On December 14, 1951 she married Donald J. Whiteside of Flint. After Don passed away in 1967, Vera raised four children alone. In 1971, Vera married Alfred E. Hale, who passed away in 1983.
Vera worked at Kroger (previously Kessel’s) retiring with over 25 years of service.
She was a proud life member of the VFW Auxiliary #4005 in Corunna.
Vera’s family was a great source of joy to her, with family often gathering on Sunday evenings around her table. She regularly baked, frequently making bread for her family. Also, she played the piano her entire life, and enjoyed Bingo, Pokeno, and other activities at Willowbrook Manor where she lived. She also had been an avid bowler and golfer over the years.
Mrs. Hale is survived by her children,
Don (Sherry) Whiteside Jr. of Flushing,
John (Kelly) Whiteside of Swartz Creek,
Larry (Mary Ann) Whiteside of Tennessee,
Janet (Mike) Cassidy of Grand Blanc and
step-daughter, Janice Hale (Steve) Kidd.
One of Vera’s joys was her grandchildren, Kim (Jeb) Laux of Davison, DJ (Michelle) Whiteside of Owosso, Lisa (Matt) Zacks of Massachusetts, Melissa Whiteside of Swartz Creek, John Whiteside II of Swartz Creek, Katie (Dustin) Williams of Tennessee, Tom Cassidy of Grand Blanc, Christine Cassidy of Mason and Liliana Cassidy of Grand Blanc.
She is also the proud great-grandmother of Gavin, Kylie and Anna Laux; Myra and Elijah Whiteside; Dylan Zacks; Amelia, Baylor, and Collin Williams; Emilio and Elena Carrizales.
The family thanks the staff at Willowbrook and Heartland Hospice for their personal and professional care. Thank you also to Extraordinary Ministers Joanne Kessler and Carol Liex for their loving spiritual support.
