REED, Geraldine Marie -- Age 90, died May 22, 2011. She was a resident of Elizabeth's Assisted Living in Clio. Memorial service will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 25 at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 353 E. Vienna St. Clio, Rev. John Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Clio Area Education Foundation (CAEF) or the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum (NLBM.) Mrs. Reed was born October 29, 1920 in Detroit the daughter of George P. and Minnie Belle (Bird) Williams. She was married to Henry William Reed; he preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Reed earned her Bachelors Degree from CMU, and her Masters Degree from U of M. She taught in the Clio Area Schools for 30 years retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Flint Rock and Gem Club, Michigan Basket Makers Association, and Michigan Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Reed is survived by: three children Kathleen and husband Ed Myers of Birch Run, Russ and wife Shelley Reed of Clio, Laurie and husband Charles Collins of Brownsburg, IN; four grandchildren, Susan Collins Ward, Mark Collins, Kathleen Collins, Nikki Reed; great-grandson Henry William Ward; sisters Katherine Tate of Hudson, FL; brother Russell Williams of Ft. Myers, FL; beloved brother-in-law Henry Viola; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry William Reed; son William Henry Reed; and four sisters.
