KORHONEN, Paul H. – Of Flint, age 81, died Sunday, October 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. (Pastor Klein – not in paper)
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Eastern Michigan Youth Hockey Association.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Paul was born in Buffalo, New York on June 2, 1932, the son of Toivo and Ellen (Fox) Korhonen and was a resident of Flint.
On July 4, 1965 he married Violet Kennedy in Flint.
Paul’s lifelong passion was hockey and he devoted his life to coaching youth hockey.
He enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are wife, Violet;
children, Skip Korhonen,
Charlie (Ruben) Korhonen-Brooks,
Bear (Marlo) Korhonen and
Hankie (Tyrone) Korhonen-Guise;
mother-in-law, Marie Morris;
10 grandchildren, Gibson, Cooper, Chardae, Colton, Casey, Selena, Olivia, Connor, Jillian and Calvin; brother, John (Judy) Korhonen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved Bassett, Cleo.
