ASHLEY, Robert B. – Of Burton, age 65, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jerome Taylor officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring may make contributions to Eastgate Baptist Church.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on June 17, 1952, the son of the late Jack and Faythe Ashley and was a resident of Linden for the past 15 years.
On August 31, 1985 he married Shelly Clark.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1973.
He was a member of Eastgate Baptist Church.
He played in the Christian Golf League at the Flint Golf Club.
He was an active softball player and umpire for high school, middle school and junior high.
Mr. Ashley was employed by GM Chevrolet Metal Fab for 30 years, retiring in 2008.
Surviving are wife, Shelly;
one son, Joshua (Mallory);
three grandchildren, Jordan, Presley and Jameson;
one brother, Mike (Cherlynn).
He was preceded in death by Baby Ashley; daughter, Julia; brothers, Butch, John, and Albert “Hap” and sister-in-law, Kathy.
