DINNAN, Lawrence James Jr. “Larry” – of Ionia, formerly Clio, lost his battle with cancer at home surrounded by his family on August 31, 2016. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family.
Larry was born October 15, 1960 in Flint, Michigan to Lawrence Sr. and Minerva (Martinez) Dinnan. He graduated from Clio High School. He was employed with Medilodge of Howell where he met the love of his life, Kathy Barclay “Pooter Butt”. Kathy stood by his side until the Lord called him home to be with his dad, Joe. Larry loved all sports, you could always find him watching or listening to a game, shaking his head because he didn’t like a play that just happened. He also loved to bowl and received a ring for bowling a 299. Larry enjoyed cooking, reading the newspaper and feeding & watching the birds at Daniel and Carol Simon’s home. He was always playing jokes and teasing, just to make you smile. Above all, Larry loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a way to touch your soul with just a smile.
Larry is survived by: Wife, Kathy Barclay of Ionia; Mother, Minerva Dinnan of Clio; Brothers: Bro#2, Jeff (Malisa) Dinnan of Frankenmuth and Bro#3, John Dinnan of Clio; Sisters: Lorraine Dinnan of Flint and Deanna Kaiser of Millington; Beloved cat, Bella; Father and mother in law, Daniel and Carol Simon of Ionia. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Dinnan in 2000.
Larry’s family would like to extend a thank you to all the wonderful people he met through his journey who showed him love, compassion and friendship. You will never know how much you touched & comforted him. A special thank you to Kathy Barclay’s wonderful family for all their unconditional love for Larry and their help guiding him on his Journey.
