SCOTT, Harriett Vivian (Lied) – of Henpeck, age 95, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Karen Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM, Wednesday from 12-4 & 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Thetford Senior Center or the charity of one’s choice.

Harriett was born on November 21, 1917 in Flint to the late Austin and Edna (Kush) Lied. She married Ellsworth Floyd Scott in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1992. Harriett lived the majority of her life in Thetford Township. She worked for AC Spark Plug during WW II where she calibrated bomb sights and later worked a variety of jobs for AC, retiring in 1983. Harriett was fascinated with flying and Amelia Earhart inspired her to seek flying lessons. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol during WW II. Harriett was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Vienna Chapter #283, a longstanding member of Thetford Center United Methodist Church and was active with the Thetford Senior Center for many years. She loved to travel and made several visits to the former USSR with her close friend Lubna Stevens. Lubna and Harriett also traveled to Europe, Ireland, and Egypt where Harriett laughed about getting held up by the camel driver on the way to visit the pyramids. Harriett love to cook gourmet food, enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, bowled for many years, and had a passion for golf, playing 2-3 times a week as weather permitted.

Surviving are: her 3 children, Robert E. (Nancy) Scott of Garden, Richard A. (Gail) Scott of Grand Blanc, Linda E. (Keith) Cregar of Mt. Morris; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Gretchen (Lied) Schlosser of AZ; brother, James Lied of Clio; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend many thanks to the aides and Nursing staff of Fostrian Manor in Flushing and the staff of McLaren Hospice who gave so much attention to our Mom during her final weeks. We would like to say thank you to Pam McIlmurray who watched over Mom and encouraged her to keep on keeping on during her last years.
