On the morning of March 4, 2020, Sandie (Sandina Castiglione) Jones Miller of Grand Blanc, Michigan, died at the age of 94. Sandie was born in Flint, Michigan, the youngest of 6 children born to Santa and Andrea Castiglione. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth M. Jones. They had four children: Pam (Bob) Bennett of Grand Blanc; Claire Dayton of Flint, Michigan; Ken (Sally Wilson) Jones of Mentor, Ohio; and Harry (Allison) Jones of Carson City, Nevada. Sandie also had an “adopted” daughter, as she lovingly referred to, Ann Keillor.
Her grandchildren: Ryan Blaine (Emily) Bennett; Megan (Brad) Weiland of Chicago, Illinois; Kelcey (Christopher) Hoban of Montgomery, Alabama; Paige (Mike) Ingledue of Columbus, Ohio; and Aaron (Melanie) Jones of Gardnerville, Nevada. Her eight great- grandchildren (who lovingly called her “Blue G” because she often dressed in blue): Graham, Elliot and Penelope Bennett; Robert and Sandina Weiland of Chicago, Illinois; Reece and Harper Hoban of Montgomery, Alabama; and Adeline Jones of Gardnerville, Nevada.
Life took Sandie on many journeys. She lived and had three of her children in San Diego, California (where roots are strong, leaving beloved nieces and nephews) and Flint, Michigan. Retirement took her to Lake Havasu City, Arizona and then to Truckee, California where she met Jim Miller and was married for nine years. He preceded her in death in 2001.
The last years of her life were spent in Grand Blanc, Michigan at Tranquility Estates. Sandie had many loving friends in her Tranquility family, the 50 and Over Club at Holy Family Church, and the Grand Blanc Senior Center where she enjoyed playing poker with her special friends.
Sandie loved life, family, travel, and family dogs. She was brave and fearless. A football fan of University of Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame and supporter of Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs, where she attended activities and graduations.
A special "Thank You" to Dr. Linda Norrell, Heartland Hospice, and Pamela Rinoldo-Dikos for care and guidance in the end journey.
