ZERKA, Bahije Salem - age 91, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, April 18, 2016 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Rd., Flint with Rev. Fr. Pierre T. Bassil celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where an incense service will be held at 7 PM. visitation will also be held from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. Mrs. Zerka was born December 25, 1924 in Lebanon the daughter of Toufic and Amira (Herr) Zerka. She married Salem M. Zerka in 1943 in Lebanon and he preceded her in death on May 19, 1995. Surviving are: six children, Siham and husband, Najib Massaad of Swartz Creek, Saada and husband, Paul Alwan of Lebanon, Mike and wife, Madeleine Zerka of Swartz Creek, Halim and wife, Nawal Zerka of Minneapolis, Ahlam Solomon of Flushing, Laureine and husband, Joseph El-Dick of Shelby Twp; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sisters, Rahije Zerka and Mariam Zerka; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; son-in-law, John Solomon; three sisters; and three brothers.
