GUNNELS, Marie V. – of Mt. Morris, formerly of Clio, age 78, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Melody Care Homes in Flint. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church on Wednesday to celebrate her life from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Messiah Samaritan Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Marie was born on October 2, 1935 in Clio, MI to the late Edward and Helen (Voss) Klatt. She lived in the Clio and Mt. Morris area all her life. Marie married Jim Gunnels, who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed taking care of her house and yard, going to the casinos, fishing, golfing, crafts and gardening.
Surviving are: children; Jannine (Jim) Warren of Woodbine, MD, Greg Cline of Otisville, Tracy (Greg) Thor of Marriottsville, MD, Lisa (Bill) Sears of Manchester, MD; 6 grandchildren, Megan, James Michael, Jack, Cody, Joseph, and Andrew; brothers, Ben and Fred; sisters, Helen, Geri, Carolyn, Barbara, Maxine, Lora; many nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
