KEYWORTH, Gerald J. (Gerry) – Of Grand Blanc, age 96, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Abbey Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Hal Phillips, of the Halsey United Methodist Church officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Contributions may be made to the Halsey United Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans, PO BOX 145447, Cincinnati, OH or a Veterans organization of your choice.
Visitation 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
Gerald was born in Swartz Creek, Michigan on February 20, 1918, the son of James and Bessie Keyworth.
He served four years in the U.S. Army, in the South Pacific, receiving two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart in addition to the regular service awards.
He retired from the City of Flint 1978, where he worked in the Assessment Division for thirty four years.
He was a member of Halsey United Methodist Church, life member of the Flint Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, 32nd. Division Association and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He married Gertrude Snider on July 5, 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Jennifer Keyworth in August, 2014; brother, Wayne and two sisters, Helen and Elizabeth.
He leaves three sons, James and wife Patti of Payson, Arizona,
Dennis and wife Brenda of Grand Blanc, Randy and wife Peggy of Berkley, California;
three grandsons, Todd and wife Lori of Almont,
Chris and friend Scott Consen of Beverly Hills, MI,
Zachary and friend Elyse Ritchey of El Cerrito, CA;
two great-grandsons, Derek of Almont, MI and Preston of Beverly Hills, MI;
one great-granddaughter, Fern of El Cerrito, CA and a loving sister-in-law, Elaine Webber.
