ELFORD, Betty S. - Of Flint, age 87, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, MI.
Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Annie R. Duncan officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Association.
Betty was born in Hoxie, Arkansas on July 17, 1927 the daughter of the late Jesse and Maude (Buchanan) Meadows. On July 1, 1941, she married Herbert Elford in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a charter member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church (Farnumwood), and a member of the Flint Elks 222 (Does). She enjoyed crafts, needlework and golf. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, Roger and wife Sandra of Owosso, MI, Linda and husband Armin Troesch of Ann Arbor, Gary and wife Cheryl of Davison, Donald and wife Jamie of Virginia and Mary Beth and husband Carl Slemp of Lapeer;
16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren;
sister, Joann Menosky of Mt. Morris;
many nieces and nephews;
and brother-in-law, Jack and wife Pat Elford of Mt. Morris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; brothers, Harold and Gerald Meadows.
