Gordon Rounds Jr., a man known for his unwavering love of family and sports, left us to join the champions in the sky on May 16, 2024. Born on May 31, 1966, in Owosso, Michigan, to proud parents Gordon "Cork" Sr. and Gloria (Budge) Rounds, Gordon's life was marked by his friendly demeanor and spirit.
After graduating from Durand High School in the class of 1985, he channeled his hard work and dedication into a successful career of 24 years at Chrysler. His work ethic and commitment to his colleagues afforded him deep respect and many friendships that he cherished throughout his life. On October 4, 2004, Gordy married Amy Lynn Markley, and together they raised their daughter, Emily.
Passionate about sports, Gordy was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan football. His enthusiasm led him to become an active participant in several fantasy football leagues. Gordy could regularly be found enjoying a day out on the golf course, engaging in a friendly game of bowling, watching basketball, or playing a game of cards.
Gordy loved planning getaways and vacations with his beloved family. These moments, filled with laughter and love, are cherished memories his family will hold onto forever.
Gordy's legacy will be upheld by those who survive him: his parents, Gordon "Cork" Sr. and Gloria Rounds, his loving wife, Amy; his daughter, who was his pride and joy, Emily Rounds; his siblings Caroline (Sean) Nuttmann, Renee (Kevin) Kelly, and Duane Rounds. He also leaves many close friends who were like brothers to him. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth and playfulness. He was preceded in death by his nephew Andy Rounds.
Friends and relatives will forever remember Gordy as a fun-loving and friendly. Whether cheering on his favorite sports teams or gracing the family gatherings with his presence, his adventurous spirit was contagious. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Gordy felt his friendly nature and loving heart in every interaction.
Funeral service to honor and celebrate Gordon will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. The Rounds family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
