Alonzo Priestley of Flushing, age 84, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving daughters. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. James Britt officiating. Burial will be later at Kittle Cemetery, Mio. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Alonzo was born October 14, 1928 in Warsaw, Indiana, the son of Alonzo Ballard and Wilma Ruth (Cuyler) Priestley. He married Barbara Jean Arseneau in Flint on December 2, 1953. She preceded him in death on March 14, 1993.
Alonzo was a retired Allstate Insurance Investigator. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and later served at the DEW Line as a Radar Technician, a civilian position with IT&T. He was a life member of the N.R.A. since 1966.
Alonzo is survived by: three daughters, Diane and spouse Pajo Priestley, Judith L. Priestley of Flint, Sandra and husband Craig Smith of Flint; grandchildren, Alanna Riggio, David and wife Laura Downs, Heather and husband Christopher Tyler, Meghan and Amanda Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; much loved niece and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; infant son, Richard Curtis; and great-grandson, Ryan Ivy. |
