RAGSDALE, Charles M. – of Lake Wales, FL, formerly of Flint, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. Per Charles’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Rev. David Tennant officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice.
Charles was born in Flint, MI on October 17, 1931, son of the late Carl and Hazel (Dorris) Ragsdale. He graduated from Flint Central in 1950. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from July of 1952 to May of 1954 during the Korean Conflict as part of the 633rd Engineered Co. He received two Bronze Service Stars. Charles retired as Battalion Chief from the City of Flint Fire Department in July of 1982. He lived in Lake Wales, Florida with his wife, Zoe (Pennington) Ragsdale. He was a lifetime member of the Davison VFW Post #4087, member of the Elks Club and American Legion.
Charles is survived by his wife, Zoe; children, Sandy (Brian) Lambert of Flint and Mike (Kim) Ragsdale of Flint; grandchildren, Sarah (Rob) Horwood from Ypsilanti, Rachel and Bret Lambert of Flint, Adam (fiancé, Erica Saidoo) Ragsdale of Algonac, Aubrey Ragsdale of Flint; great-grandson, Landon Horwood of Ypsilanti.
