VERGOS, Gust G. - Of Flint, age 84, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc,
Father Angelo Maggos officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Trisagion Service will be held 7pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
Gus was born in Kato Hora, Greece on June 27, 1933, the son of the late George and Eleni (Assimakopoulos) Vergos. On July 15, 1961, he married Helen Christakis. Gus came from Greece at the age of 18. He was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, member of AHEPA and Association of Stereolladites. Gus and his brother Angelo owned and operated Palace Coney Island at the Genesee Valley Center since 1970 and they also owned the Roadside and Bungalow Restaurants. His energy and passion made him successful in all facets of life. Those who witnessed his tireless efforts were left in awe of his abilities. His family will always remember him for his extreme devotion.
Surviving are wife Helen of 56 years;
children, George and wife Krista, Dr. Peter and wife Susie, Alta Vergos and Zoe and husband Dr. Paul Harris;
grandchildren, Alexa, Lenna, Kosta, Frankie, Nicholas, Eleni and Bobby;
sister, Dialeta and husband Adonios Giannakopoulos of Greece;
brother, Nick Vergos of Greece;
and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Angelo and Tom and sister, Lambrini.
