Lorne J. (Mike) Tew, - age 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11a.m. to 8p.m. and on Thursday from 10a.m. until time of services at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Eastwood United Methodist Church, 3312 Whittier Ave, Flint, MI 48506, VFW Post #4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd, Davison, MI 48423 or V.F.W. Post #822 G-5085 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, Mi 48507.
Lorne was born May 30, 1923 in Flint to the late Lorne and Laura (Seelinger) Tew. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army/Air Force during W.W. II, and was a Lifetime member of the Davison V.F.W.Post #4087. He married Lillian Plato on June 2, 1945, whom he met in England during WW II. Mr. Tew worked at Fisher Body, Flint Collision then retired from GMSPO as a supervisor in 1981. He was a devout member of Eastwood United Methodist Church. He was someone you could always count on to help. He loved to fish, golf, and was an avid deer hunter until the later years of his life.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian, whom he worshipped; his four loving children, Michael, Brenda (Robert) Tew Polzin, James (Sharon) Goth-Tew, Karen Tew; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Wilda Boyce and family, Donna Blackledge and family. He was also preceded in death by: daughter, Sandra and husband Louie Summers; and his brother, Stan and wife Micky Tew. The family would like to thank Dr C.A. Dall'olmo, Dr. P.M. Perez, Dr. Forstall and their staff, all of the caregivers especially Shelby, Becky, Cathy from An Angels Touch, close friends and neighbors Jane and Paul Lee.
